Income Statement

Income Not Showing in myGov or ATO?

If an employer or wage amount is missing from ATO online services, do not assume the income can be left out. Check the employer, your records and the Income Statement status before lodging.

Key points

  • A missing Income Statement and a Not Tax Ready statement are different issues.
  • Compare myGov with payslips, bank deposits and the employer's legal name.
  • Lodging with incomplete information may require an amendment later.

Why wages may not appear

An employer may still be reporting or finalising payroll information, the business may appear under a different legal or labour-hire name, or only some employers may be visible. Contractor income paid under an ABN may not appear like employee wages.

Missing versus Not Tax Ready

If no statement appears, first compare the employer name and ABN on your payslips. If a statement appears as Not Tax Ready, the employer has not yet finalised the annual information. Check the gross amount, tax withheld and year-to-date totals before using the figures.

What to ask the employer

  • Has the relevant payroll information been reported through Single Touch Payroll?
  • Has the Income Statement been finalised?
  • Is the employer or labour-hire legal name different from the workplace name?
  • When will any correction be submitted?

Do not send your full TFN through ordinary email or chat. Follow the employer's secure identity process.

If you cannot contact the employer

Keep payslips, bank deposits, contracts, rosters and contact details. Ask the ATO or a registered tax agent what information is required rather than estimating figures without supporting records.

Frequently asked questions

Can I leave out income that is not visible in myGov?

No. Whether income must be reported is not determined only by what is pre-filled.

Can I lodge while the statement is Not Tax Ready?

Using unfinalised figures can lead to a later amendment or additional tax. Check before lodging.
